VisiTAX, What Is It?
The VisiTAX is a fee established in 2020 by the local State of Quintana Roo (Article 51-Octies) "to mitigate the impact on the beaches and natural reserves of the State and to contain sargassum. It is also used to generate infrastructure to improve access and surveillance of Mayan archeological sites and generate better public services that benefit both tourists and the local population."
Who pays a VisiTAX?
ALL INTERNATIONAL visitors arriving to the State of Quintana Roo pay a VisiTAX. The VisiTAX is mandatory and once you make the payment, it will be synchronized with your passport so you have easy access and do not have to worry about printing or downloading any proof.
How Much Is It?
The VisiTAX is $20.99 USD per person including children, infants and diplomatic personnel. You can pay it yourself directly in 3 easy steps by using the form above.
How Do I Pay My Visitax?
The VisiTAX can only be paid ONLINE and by credit card. There are NO desks or cashiers at the Cancun Airport. Your payment and VisiTAX Code will be synchronized with your travel documents for an easy transition through the airport checkpoints.
FAQ- VISITAX
All International Visitors “flying in” to the State of Quintana Roo pay a VisiTAX. So, if your passport IS NOT a Mexican passport and you are arriving to the State of Quintana Roo by commercial airline, then you are required to pay the VisiTAX.
If you pay it yourself, the VisiTAX is $20.99 USD per person including children and infants. There are TAX Agencies that may charge you a “service fee” for processing your VisiTAX, that fee will be “on top” of the $20.99 USD and can be between $10.00 to $40.00 USD extra per person. If you DO NOT want to pay the extra fees, you can process your VisiTAX yourself (see above).
