FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

All International Visitors “flying in” to the State of Quintana Roo pay a VisiTAX. So, if your passport IS NOT a Mexican passport and you are arriving to the State of Quintana Roo by commercial airline, then you are required to pay the VisiTAX.

If you pay it yourself, the VisiTAX is $19.90 USD per person including children and infants. There are TAX Agencies that may charge you a “service fee” for processing your VisiTAX, that fee will be “on top” of the $19.90 USD and can be between $10.00 to $40.00 USD extra per person. If you DO NOT want to pay the extra fees, you can process your VisiTAX yourself (see above).

NO, the rate is the same for adults, children and infants.

NO, the VisiTAX IS NOT included in any other service such as plane tickets, hotel reservations, rental cars, etc. The VisiTAX is independent from these services and must be paid by the visitor separately.

ONLINE. The VisiTAX can only be paid ONLINE. There ARE NO booths or desk available at the airports to pay the VisiTAX. It is very easy to process your VisiTAX, see above.

This is the most common question we get. From breast milk, to live animals, to medicine, to cigarettes, gift bags for your wedding, etc. If you are coming from ANY country outside of Mexico then there are limitations on what you can bring into Mexico. The same goes for what you can take OUT of Mexico. Because this is a CUSTOMS question it is better that you check with your nearest MEXICAN CONSULATE prior to your trip. Here is a link to Mexican Consulates around the world: Directory of mexican consulates around the world

Please be aware that we WILL NOT answer to emails regarding CUSTOMS questions as we are not authorized to give official information. Please contact your nearest Mexican Consulate for details and documentation.
